I have had a memory stick for a while, and it worked up until recently where it suddenly just stopped working and this message saying it cannot recognise it comes up.
I know it must be a driver or something since my webcam still works and my usb mouse, i also tried my mp3 player but that did not work either.
Is there any solution to this?

Maybe a ghosted copy of the flash drive drivers?

Try the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539/en-us and see if you have any duplicate "ghosted" (or faded) flash drive entries, or any ghosted or faded "unknown" usb devices, or any faded usb/flash drive entries with an exclamation mark or question mark on them

Not sure if this is it, but probably worth a shot. :)

(BTW, if the flash drive requires any special drivers, make sure you have them handy to reinstall. Might be a good idea to NOT have the flash drive plugged in when you do this).

Ok so the image shows what i have.
I did the steps as you said, but i don't really know what to do with this information.
by the way, will this help my mp3 player at all?

Right-click on the unknown devices, choose "uninstall"
Right-click on the mass storage devices, choose "uninstall"
Reboot, plug the flash drive in, see if it installs correctly this time.

Please note, there is a chance that some of those "mass storage devices" might be associated with the usb camera, so you might need to reinstall the camera drivers (if the need special drivers), but I don't think it would be necessary.

I did what you said, but it seems to have installed the rubbish drivers again since it can't detect my memory stick or my mp3 still :(
    Got any other ideas?
