What make and model of motherboard do you have? We need this info to look at the motherboard manual.

:-oI have a hewlett packard motherboard. I replaced windows vista with xp pro on a dell installation disk. All my drivers are all ok with no problems under device management. I was told that the person who installed the motherboard did not turn the usb flash drive on in bios. I believe it is the f9 key that shows the menue of usb and other choices.

    Hi

Will need to know the actual model varient of HP PC you have?

But likelyhood is enter the BIOS and look for an enable USB option (to enter the BIOS iirc offhand on a HP its F1 or F2 or ESC if a laptop, but as the PC boots keep looking at the screen and it will tell you the key/s to press to enter Setup/BIOS)
