my usb ports or hubbs (whatever they are called) no longer work with or recognize any of my storage devices like flash drives, external hard drives or mp3 player. but they still work with printers and digital camera. when i plug these devices in the cursor freezes and i can no longer do anything (not even hitting tab button works). so i have to manually shut the computer down and unplug he device. i have windows xp that has all the drivers for my devices and when i have tryed updating drivers it tells me they are already updated. would like to start using these devices again. at one time i could use them all.

I know you said you update the drivers and still go the error but have you deleted the drivers rebooted your machine and actually reinstalling them.
