I burn a lot of cds and will print labels for them. Out of no where my external high speed burner decides to go extremely slow, as does my printer. Like EXTREMELY slow. Have you guys heard of this before? I checked to see if I was just plugging it in the wrong USB for some reason, but then again I never had this issue.

    What do you guys think?

    Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry I meant to write my CD burner, but my printer stopped working correctly as well. My CDs went from burning 11 songs at 3:30s to 8:00!!!

Can you do a system restore just previous to the problem?

Well I have an 8 port usb hub connected to my computer. I unplugged the cd burner from that and put it directly into the back of the laptop (not the side ones) and my burner went like the old days BUT I know I didn't have to do that before. It's weird. Printer is having the same issue.

I would say you have a problem with the HUB then. If you plug the printer directly into the computer, does the problem go away?

Edit: When you said printer has the same issue, I assume it is fast when plugged directly into the computer and not the hub.

    Is this a powered HUB?

    Yes, it's a powered HUB.

Well i changed printers and the new printer seems to work fine through the hub. I think the other was just messed up. I did some research and saw some troubleshooting on the slow printing problem.

The CD burner doesn't make sense to me. Through the hub it goes slow, but when directly connected through the back of my computer it's extremely fast.

The CD burner issue is kind of weird as you said it has happened only recently. I assume you have tried the CD burner in the other ports of the HUB.

Not in other ports of the HUB. Next time I am burning a bunch of cds I will move it around in the HUB.

Do you think there may be certain ports that would be Hi-Speed?

No, a hub would have all ports the same speed as far as I know. Do you have a make and model number of the HUB?

Ok, so i pulled my CD burner off the HUB and plugged it directly into the back of my computer (not the side ports) and it is back to CRUISING! haha

Here is the model of my hub (and it's powered): Dynex USB 2.0 7 port Hub

Thanks for the feedback. I would have thought a powered hub would not give this problem.
