USB Power Not Given

I have a strange problem with a mouse I've been using for a long time. Recently, windows says there was a malfunction, or unknown device when I plug it in. It also will not even turn on (the optical light)

I noticed it flashes when booting my computer but simply doesn't turn on after.

I did some research and apparently this can be causes by windows turning off devices to save power. I do not however have the ability to change this because it is not there as an option for me.

There is a screenshot of what I see. The unknown device is my other mouse I want to work, and it is receiving zero power.

How can I fix this?

I am using Windows XP Pro on an ASUS k98 mb

 

Whether it's related or not, you have an error for your Raid Controller.

Device Manger should not have any errors or unindentified entries.


My USB root hub has a Power Management tab. (whether or not that's related to your problem)

I suggest you update your motherboard/chipset drivers and see if that helps.

 

I actually don't have a raid setup so that's always confused me.

About the drivers, I admit I've never installed any new ones because every single link on the asus website, or any other driver website does not work or links me to some weird porn site.

I just can't find anything reliable.

I doubt the ASUS site is linked to porn. It's probably your PC is infected. I suggest you visit our Malware forum.

In the meantime, download EVEREST and post the log as an attachment. (please don't copy and paste, only attach)
