USB problem

I recently fixed my friends computer which she had covered in viruses and spyware, but have encountered one (hopefully the last) problem. She has Kodak easy share software for downloading pictures from her camera. Unfortunately, when she plugs the camera in, the computer does not recognize that a new device has been plugged in, even after I went through and installed the device through windows. I am fairly certain that there is a problem with the USB, is there any way to fix it? Thanks.
