USB Question

    Could there be a problem if I take the voltage from the power pins of a USB port and apply them to a device such as a fan but at the same time a flash drive is being used by that USB port and is being powered by that USB port. Here is drawing of what I am talking about:

    As you can see the voltage wires of the USB port go to the fan as well as the USB Device. Could this cause any sort of problems?

    The only problem I can think of is if the fan draws too much current for the USB port to handle, in which case, the fan (and possibly the USB drive) will perform poorly, or worse. If the fan requires 0.7A or less, this set up should be fine.

    If you do encounter trouble, you should consider getting an externally-powered USB hub and a USB fan.
