USB's won't detect. Thought it was hardware, but if I update the driver, it sees the USB devices and loads them, so now I thinks it's software related. Once recognized, all the devices work properly, they just need to be inserted before boot or if I do a rollback and update driver. My question is, is there a setting in the registry that controls the USB port scanning? Motherboard is an MSI 975X PowerUp edition with the Intel 975X chipset. Thanks in advance for any light that can be shown on this.

If they're like USB flash drives or whatnot and the drivers are installed, you might need to go and assign a drive letter to them. My computer was being dumb and it forgot to assign a drive letter to my drive even though it detected that it was a USB drive.

Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Storage -> Disk Management.

If there's a drive in there that doesn't have a drive letter you can go ahead and assign a letter to that.

If they're not that then I don't really know what to do XD.

On one of my notebooks, I have a choice of two settings in the BIOS under PS/2 pointing devices: both or auto. If I select auto, plugging in a USB device will freeze the computer. I need to set it to both in order for USB devices to be plug and play. It isn't logical but after lots of trial and errors in windows and linux, that's my solution.
Have you tried keeping a USB hub plugged in and plugging and unplugging your devices into the hub?
