Usb Video Recording Software

Webcams are very cheap nowadays. Are there any programs that can record the last 24 hours of what the camera saw, disposing of anything over 24 hours old. Basically security software does this but I am not interested in paying for a security camera nor using WiFi. I want to wire this camera via USB to a nearby computer that has a very large hard disk attached. I would also like it to record a time date stamp on the video image.

As far as retention of the video, it is easy enough to set up a scheduled task to delete old captured video or pictures.

So I installed Yawcam, I still have to figure out how to only record for a limited amount of time. That and how to share it between two computers. I'll keep working on it I'm sure I'll figure something out.

 

You can use a batch file or power shell. Set the script to run in task manager, say every hour.

I have a tiny computer that is being fed by a video camera monitoring the front porch. I've got the computer set up for the most part, but I am running into my own nemesis, network credentials I pressed the windows key and r as several help articles suggest but I am unable to see what it is if it is.
