USB & Windows 98(I know, I know)

Good Morning,

I am helping a friend who does not wish to upgrade her computer at this time.
It is running Windows 98. Problem is this; I have some apps saved on a travel drive. The PC has USB ports but does not recognize/support my drive. Any help???

Well I use Win98SE and I'm happily using a USB flash drive. When I bought it the specs told me it wouldn't run under 98. Being a disbelieving soul I downloaded the Win2000 driver and used that - works just fine!!

These are new - I have used the 2.2 versions - very nice.

I had a problem like this, all I had to do was go to the homepage for the device, and download the driver. It even fit on a floppy (my 98 was not connected to the net) but that link looks like it should do the same thing.

 

From what I have read USB will NOT work on Windows 98.
It WILL however work on Windows 98 SE.
Usually a USB stick comes with a driver for W98SE and I have used USB sticks on my old W98SE laptop with no problem, once the driver is loaded.

The problem is people use the generic term "Windows 98" and they don't know if they have W98 or W98SE. Bazza

@bigbazza. You are, of course, quire right. I just naturally assume these days that Windows 98 means Window 98 Second Edition.
