So I tried diskpart in command promt and in powershell, still the usb is still write protected. I also tried regedit, and the (32-bit d-word) value is at 0. Then I tried, mini tool partition wizard (bootable), and I still can't get rid of the write protected on the usb drive. I've try to format this usb on Windows, 7, 8.1 and 10 Ubuntu, Mint, Arch and Kali Linux. I even tried a Mac computer and still can't format this usb drive.
Does anybody else have any other ideas to get rid of the write protected?

P.S. I don't care about the data on the usb.

    Thanks b1.

The drive could just be toast. But note some have an actual physical write-protect switch on the drive itself. Did you check for one of those?

That was the first thing I checked. There is no switch. I also came up with the same conclusion, the drive is toast. I'm pretty sure I tried everything under the sun to get this drive to work.
    Thanks Digerati, b1

You are welcome. Sadly, these devices just are not very robust. They are great for temporary storage of files to, for example, take a file from home to work. But they should never be used as backup devices - at least not as the only backup. Besides growing feet and getting lost or stolen, they can too easily be damage through abuse, drops, power anomalies, or even by static when pulling them out of a pocket.

Fortunately, they tend not to be very expensive.
