usbscan(04) Error

    I am running Windows ME. I get the following error message once or twice an evening and have to reboot each time:

    usbscan(04) + 0000005A Error: 06:0028: FF1257FA

    Whats up? I have an external hard frive on one of my usb ports if that helps.

    Do you have these files in your system (nneded for usb support):
    *

    USBAUTH.SYS
    *

    USBHUB.SYS
    *

    USBMPHLP.SYS
    *

    USBNTMAP.SYS
    *

    USBSTOR.SYS
    *

    USBUI.DLL

    Download the file(s) to a Floppy Disk and point the Hardware Wizard to look in A:\ when prompted. These files are located, in compressed form, on your WinMe CD in Win9x/BASE2 For WinMe ONLY

    Check your chipset drivers also.

    One quick comment: the system worked fine for over a year. This is just something that started recently.

    What might have changed recently ....any registry changes/cleaning ....new software ....new usb devices ?

    Nothing that I can think of. I'll probably have to get a new machine with XP before too long.

    Hard drive may be pulling more power that it (the system) can handle ...how big is your ps?
