    Howdy,

I am trying to get my camera working with my computer again (had some malware/virus issues that I seemed to have finally gotten rid of). However, still cleaning a few things left behind that were caught in the destruction path.

I have a Kodak Z740 and with the Easyshare Printer Dock Series 3. I tried getting my computer to reconize the printer dock, however it says it malfunctioned (I cannot remember if it was the driver, or what that malfunctioned) but came up in a bubble. :\

My next attempt was when I connected my computer directly to my camera via the cord that came with it. :) It reconzies my camera (bubble pops up stating it found the "Kodak Z740 Camera"), then *POOF*, blue screen of death. It says it's the usbscan.sys that caused the error.

I have included a screen shot of the "BlueScreenView" and would appreciate any help. I need to get my camera and printer dock working (among other things). Thanks. :tired

    Hi

You could still have malware on your PC that is causing this and not all automated scans can find all malware and remove it, which is why we have a Malware Removal forum with some great experts, so best is to follow this guide HERE and start a new thread inthe Malware Forum HERE and attach the logs as requested, with a brief explaination of your issue.

Sadly your screenshot is too small to read, but I would make sure your malware free before we tackle any driver issues as we could be chashing our tails. as malware does have a tendancy to mess up USB.

But once deemed malware free then do post the full BSOD code and then tell me what items in device manager have a yellow ! mark by them if any?

Also what is the Make and Model of your PC, or make and model of your Motherboard?

    Windows Version?

I am pretty sure I am mostly malware free. :) I had the virut virus which I have cleaned off my computer and got it running again. Took a while to clean it and everything but it had to wipe a few essential files as well.

However, on a side note... your first link does not work.

    Hi

Indeed it doesnt, I must have been deleting a spammer and user name so likely forgot to copy and paste again, but link is this one HERE

I would tho stress that the virut virus is a nasty and a component maybe lurking still, so well worth checking.

Boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and see if you get any BSOD when you try the scenario you mentioned in post #1, do let us know yes or no?

Still need to know the other questions I asked?

Could guess at the Windows version being Vista or Windows 7, but you could be using a theme, and the various Windows versions may have differing routes to the fix to help you, also need to know if its 32bit or 64bit?

Check in Windows (likely could just be the locations for Vista and/or Win7) C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository to see if you have a usbscan.inf (could be characters after it) folder and open it, does it have usbscan.sys file, if so then copy and paste it into these locations C:\Windows\Drivers and/or C:\Windows\Inf and reboot.

If not try running from again if Vista or Windows 7 an elevated command prompt (type in the start search box cmd and when it shows in the list right click and choose Run as Administrator) then with the Windows DVD in the drive, type at the cmd prompt sfc /scannow to see if that fixes the system file.

Wouldnt also mine if you have the time the actual minidump file and need it in a text file as per instructions HERE and attach it, maybe some other causing fault that sends usbscan.sys to fault.

I haven't tried booting into safe mode yet...

However, just to clarify, I have Windows XP with Styler ver1.401 to make it look like Windows Vista (I like the black taskbar and window titles. ;) ). 32 bit.

    Hi

Cheers on the mention of XP as it does help when directing yo uto various locations.

But run sfc scannow and see if that helps andthen also if it happens again and I forgot to add the link to a guide on the minidump please attach a minidump using the instructions HERE for getting a text file of this
