    Hello;

    I transfered used harddrive from my old non working computer to my new laptop by using external case but it doesn't recognized the used harddrive ( in device manager yes, but not in disk management). It also doesn't have designated letter, so I don't know where it is. I would like to transfer the the files to my new laptop, is there a way I can do this? I am pretty sure the old hard drive is working.

    I am running windows xp pro sp 2 on laptop
    old hard drive is also running same thing but its home edition . The size of the old hard drive is about 80gb.

    Did you set the old hard drive to slave?

    yeah that's the thing, when I set it to slave or master, the led lights on the hard drive enclosure would turn red. So I left it at cable select ( the only time it turned green). Also, every other mass storage device connected thru usb works (ipod,camera) except for this one
