user accounts not working

so i just came into a problem, my computer gave me this screen when i started up that said it could not load locally stored profile and something about the i/o not working correctly, so i searched it online and it said to do a system restore, did it it didn't work, and it said to go into safe mode and log in as admin and do CHKDSK and i did and it stopped the message but when i log into my computer its still doing the same thing without the messages, like for instance icons and files on my owner account arent there but if i right-click the start menu and explore all users it shows all the files, but thats the only way i can acess them. using xp sp2.
