Username.

Some members have a really strange username.

I'm curious (and bored ). Take the poll and feel free to post more details.

And I forgot ... it's my real name.

 

On the rest of the internet I'm Felix4067, which is my cat's name combined with my house number. However, when I joined here I was working for another site, and they were...odd...about their moderators belonging to other tech site forums, so I went with my other cat's name, no house number. I'm pretty sure this is the only place left where I use this one.

 

joffa is a nickname based on my surname and on other forums where joffa is already taken then I am joffa666

"Mimsy" supposedly means 'unhappy'. An alternative translation, and the only one I was aware of when I picked the name, says it means "miserable and flimsy"

Well, of course not. Everyone knows the Jabberwock is male.

 

First three letters are the initials of the company I was working for when I joined, second three letters - I'm an estimator by profession.
My new avatar is a Caterpillar double-engined scraper that moves earth.
Older technology now but what we used when I started figuring out quantities back in the 80's.

 

Obviously, I just use my real name.

 

A nickname from other forums as it was the first word in a longer name. Also denotes where I live.

 

I remember you as Halo, you were a mod here then too.

I suspect the stuffed animals have always been a favorite of yours. They are memorable.

I've always used my name, but I tend to draw my own avatars. They have special meaning for me.

 

Wraith was an online persona of mine in a first person shooter I was playing when I found MG. It was a darker time in my life and that is no longer the case. I no longer go by that moniker and am considering petitioning the Mods here to see if I can change it (how about it Tim? Is that possible to do now?). Been here a long time and remember quite a few who no longer visit but are well thought of. Halo, we had some good times back in the old days. I remember the lounge back when it was much more liberal in content and Abby Sue was busy keeping us all in line. Starman is much missed by me as well as many, many others. I realize that we all have issues IRL that we are busy with and I accept that. Only wish I would have gotten many of their contact information other than through this forum so we could still correspond.

Mine is both my real name and a nickname.

 

A long time ago when asked about how I got my nickname, I blamed it on my wife. A friend called her and asked her where I was. She replied I was "outside sharpening my ginsuknives" ---- LOL. It got bastardized into Gensuknives, and being a gyn surgeon, it stuck. Boring, but true.

 

Bob is a common nickname for Robert.
D, the first letter of my last name.

 

Spock was a nickname I was given in HS and it's stuck with me ever since. The 96 at the end was added when I went to sign-up for some random browser game, and the username "Spock" was taken. I'm horrible at coming up with usernames, character names, etc so I asked a friend and he threw out "Spock96" it let me use that, and I've been Spock96 ever since, and yes, I use that for every forum.

 

I used this nickname on a bunch of, now defunct, forums, so it was natural that I picked this when signing up here. I when I picked this nickname for the very first time, it had a specific meaning but it's been so long that I simply don't remember any more. I'm not as young as I used to be.

 

I use my initials so that when I forget them I know it will be time to pack up this computer game!!
On some forums that require a larger name I add the last three from my army number for the same reason!!!
