Using 2 wireless routers on a network

I read the other threads on this subject and got very confused

I have a satellite modem providing our internet connection on our resort, and i want to span this over two wireless routers.

We currently have the modem going to the internet port on a Linksys WRT-350N (A) and then Ethernet going to a few desktops and wireless to the guests notebooks. This is using automatic DHCP and is working great.

I now want to add a WRT-54G (B) to expand our network and it is giving me a headache.

I have run ethernet cable from the ethernet port on (A) to the ethernet port on (B) with no success (this is my current non-working configuration).

I have also tried using an Ethernet Switch to split the signal from the modem before it goes to the routers with no success too.

My current settings are the following:

Modem:

DNS Primary:
202.155.0.10
202.155.0.15

WRT-350N (A)

internet access configured with static IP

IP:
192.168.1.1
DHCP on

WRT-54G

Internet access configured with DHCP

IP:
192.168.2.1
DHCP on

i cant ping from one to the other, but the internet from wireless (A) still works.

Please help!

 

You won't be able to ping because you have 2 separate networks with these IP addresses.

In some routers, for linksys anyways, there is a place that allows you to change your router from a gateway to a router. You also have to make sure you dont have two nat firewalls running else you'll run into some problems, check this forum out.

Instead of two wireless routers you could use one wireless router (WRT54G) and a wireless access point (WAP54G).
