hi, it was posted earlier in this forum, to use only one anti-virus program. why? i want to use both AVG and AntiVir. i know that AVG is always running, but is AntiVir? if there is an interference, can AntiVir be turned on and off to be used as an occasional supplement scanning tool? thanks.

If you have 2 running with real time scanning one may detect the others' behavior as viral in nature and may (depending on settings ) attempt to remove it and vice versa.. could cause system instability as they fight between processes.

If you want to have 2 intalled but only one real timer scanner active, I don't see a problem with that. Just disable the one you don't want to use for real time scanning.

This may not be so straight forward anymore Kodo. Most AV programs now have many processes and Services running and it is not such an easy thing to stop them all from running. It is better not to even have them installed at the same time. Don't forget they also even run and do stuff at Startup which can still be problematic.
