Here is a rant I have

Okay so I got a bad motherboard and need to RMA it. I got a RMA number etc. I bought it off of ebay.

I usually use UPS but deiceded to use USPS since it's a little cheaper.

I logged in and tired to print a ship label. Unexpected error occurred. Okay tired it again and it did the same thing and tired once more with different settings and same thing. I then tired it on IE with the same result. The test print label works every time but not a real one.

So now I have 5 charges for $6.79. I canceled them all and it says I will get a refund but we will see.

So to let people know. If you use USPS Click-N-Ship to ship stuff Be aware that it may not work for you. Now I have to go wait in line.

    Thanks usps rolleyes

My stuff took 35 days to reach!! Was an international delivery with a max delivery period of 16 days. The USPS tracker never worked a single day as well! Deficiency in service to say the least.

    Cheers..

Don't worry, they are planning on rate increases for next year.

That'll fix everything for sure! :-D:-D

Yeah USPS does suck, my wife often orders needlework stuff from the states, the places she orders from are fast and email her when order is sent. It usually takes 3-5 weeks to get something from New York, which is only about a 6 hour drive. Then she orders something from Thialand and it gets here in under a week... go figure.
Mind you, Canada Post is as bad sometimes, I've had tracking tell me it's in my town but being held at the post office for days and have eventually had to go down there to get it myself.
All waaaay too expensive too, good example, year before last I went out to Six Nation Indian Reserve to a little shop I know that sells hand made Native stuff, got my mum a very nice DreamCatcher, it was about 18-20inches across, beautiful thing all hand made by one of the girls I know in there.
This thing once packaged was pretty tight, maybe 1 or 2 inches bigger than without packaging and maybe 2 inches thick, weighed about 1.5-2lbs.
The DreamCatcher cost me $115.... shipping to England .... $125. Obviously I hit this finacial wall every Christmas with sending stuff to my family.
For those in the UK, treasure Royal Mail, it really is cheaper than you think.

About 99% of the issues with shipping from the US to other countries is customs...the USPS has no control over it whatsoever. I shipped a box of cookies from here to Vancouver and it took almost a month. However, the computer that was shipped from Vancouver to here took just over a week. Both were sent with comparable shipping methods. Anything I have ever sent within the US has taken a maximum of six days to arrive, no matter where in the country it's coming from, including Hawaii.

I've never tried to do anything online since I actually enjoy going to my post office directly (which coincidentally saves post office worker jobs...which in turn helps everyone who uses the USPS), so I can't comment on it.

Does it have its problems? You bet! Does it always suck no matter what? Not so much.

Oh, and it only cost ten bucks to ship something from Canada to England? WOW! That's incredibly cheap!!!! Or did you mean an additional $125 as opposed to that being the total?

TBH, the postal service should have been privatized years ago.

    lol $10 I wish, no I meant $125 for shipping, $240 Total.
Xmas time I send around 10 gifts, usually small, last year it weights 2.1KG and was about 10X8X6 inches, cost me $285 just for postage, only $40 shy of the value of contents, it bugs me because I would much rather spend more on my family than I do but I'm pretty much halved in spending on gifts because of the postage.

And yeah you are right about customs, my girl is a needlework designer so she has a lot of thread and fabric comming from other countries such as the US and Thialand, England etc etc... it makes me wonder, a small package like thread weights nothing and is usually sent in a padded envelope, marked with what is inside.... "Stichting Thread/Floss" ... what do customs think is in this package? Maybe they think the thread is going to be used to garrot people :-D

I suspected that was the case, but I had been hoping! LOL I'm afraid no one would get anything from me if I had to pay that much to ship it. I'm more of a "stick it in my suitcase when I visit" kind of girl. :-D

Yeah that would be nice but I havn't been home in 3 1/2 years, so with that many gifts I'd probably be over the weight limit and have to pay $300 for extra lol
