Utility to format any HDD with NTFS?

I'm looking for a bootable utility that will allow me format ANY hard drive with NTFS, regardless of the the manufacturer.

I have HDD installation software from most of the major drive manufactureres, but I'm trying to find something to format an old 10 GB TRIGEM (re-branded Samsung Spinrite).

I'm looking for software that will allow me to format a corrupted disk without removing it from the computer or making it a slave.

have you tried knoppix/qtparted,

knoppix is a linux distro with a disk program called qtparted which can format to ntfs,

its free and easy to use

That was a good call on the knoppix/qparted. Actually, that is what I had used to get the drive working again before I posted. The knoppix disk is a handy tool. I've used it several times to recover user data files.

I would like to find some type of bootable utility that is a little quicker to get going than knoppix, which will format NTFS.

 

depending on if the bios supports usb booting - then try installing knoppix on a usb and configuring it,
i've got it down to way less than half the time it takes for the cd
