VB6 Looking for code to search for a file on another computer

I have written a large program in vb6 which runs on several networked computers (STATION1, STATION2, ETC.) All of the files and programs are presently kept in STATION1. The name of the vb6 compiled program is GROUP2.

At the present time, on all other computers except STATION1, I simply create a shortcut to GROUP2 on STATION1 on each of the desktops of the other computers so each is using the same GROUP1 program.

I suspect this is causing problem(s) and want to place a separate GROUP2 program on each computer but still keep all of the text files on STATION1.

My problem is the vb6 code for accessing the STATION1 text files from the other computers.

Presently the open statement looks like this
OPEN c:\ursa\price
where ursa is the folder and price the text file.

Ideally I would like to add the the words "STATION1" somewhere is my program so that all computers go the STATION1 to get the text files.

Probably pretty simple but can't find the answer.

 

try making a share on the main pc and accessing the share from the other pc's using a UNC. This means that you'll have to make some changes to your app to accept a path parameter to the text files.
