Hi all, I recently installed a new motherboard and repaired a windows install (My PSU and MOBO blew up) And see to have found either latent spyware ha has become active or I've somehow managed to obtain a lot of Malware very quickly. I've followed the cleaning guides outlined and aside from the odd anomaly got through it all. Previous to thos instructions I did a full ad-aware,spybot and avg scan in safe mode. If you could look at the attached logs and tell me if there's any further action I need to take or anything I've missed I'd be gratefull. I'll hold of removing my restore points until then. Thanks!
(Side note, after the repair my windows updates aren't installing at all, I think I know what the reason is but if it's related to any of the above I'd welcome the knowledge)
    Regards,
    Chris

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Did you put the below entries into your hosts file to redirect Segaonline to Cirrus Tech?

You did not put your PC into Normal Startup mode with MSconfig as requested in step 1 of the READ ME. I will ask you to go do this later in the below procedure. Do not do it right now. You may have had the malware all along but since you used MSconfig to try and contain it instead of properly removing it, it may have come back to bite you.

Is your copy of Sunbelt CounterSpy a paid version or the free trial? If free, uninstall it now unless you plan on buying it.

Uninstall the below as requested in step 1 of the READ ME
    BearShare
    Viewpoint Media Player

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: IexploreOmea - {09628AAA-66AD-4FA2-82E2-698185B66463} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: targettedbanner.biz browser enhancer - {16B435F6-B6CE-4F24-A568-944B27ED919C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atgban.dll
    O2 - BHO: PCTools Site Guard - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {63179CB0-2124-788A-0210-5C00B6C68BBE} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ekeu.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {73DB7C42-B2FD-4E3D-9544-216785ECC29D} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: SBBho Class - {c9803b12-f0a0-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a66} - C:\WINDOWS\TinyBHO.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - AutorunsDisabled - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now put your PC into Normal Startup Mode with MSconfig. But do not reboot if it tells you it needs to. We will reboot below when using Avenger down below.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi,
thanks for the response, sorry I missed a couple of steps, tried not to be one of those guys that does that, ah well :p
Completed your suggestions and have enclosed the new log files. I entered those entries into the host file manually some time ago to play a game on a different server.
My windows update problem was cause by the repair install, needed to regsvr wup2.dll it seems.

Thankyou for your help, looks like you have a never ending supply of people like myself requesting help, it's greatly appreciated =D

    Thanks again,
    Chris.

    Your logs are clean!

How did you miss the below in my last message?;)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    2. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    3. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    4. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Sorry!, I guess for some reason my subconscious filtered it :p Working much better now and haven't seen any of the blasted pop ups or unwanted processes in my task manager. Job well done!
Thankyou once again for all your help, I'll take the appropriate clean up advice. I'd like to say I'll use you gents for help if this ever happens again, but hopefully following your prevention tips I shouldn't have to.
Thanks again =D you may lock the thread at will.
