Verify no malwear on system

    Trying my hand at reinstalling Windows XP Home. A friend suggested I contact you guys to check my work. I may have picked up something while using thumb drives to install programs. The only problem I had was with combofix. Got to "Preparing Log report. Do not run any programs until combofix has finished." Waited 1 1/2 hours. Then screen went to desk top. I don't think I did anything but may have. Did find a report though. All the reports seem extremely small. Is that a good sign? I also have an external drive connected to the computer. First time posting. Hope I did everything right.

    Downloaded new Combofix to desktop and tried to run it. Got the attached message about 4 times. I did do one thing though and hope it didn't cause the problem. While waiting for a response I noticed that my Jave was version 9. I deleted it and upgraded it to 12. Hope this isn't the reason Combofix fail. What should I do next?

    What happens when you try to run it? I didn't see any attachments?

    Sorry! Thought for sure I had attached the word dock with picture. Discovered document to large for rules. Will try again. This time Zipped. Just in case the error is:

    32788R22FWJFW\norcomd.com. Within the error box with a big red X is "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

    My account is in the administrators group. To clean things up I deleted Combofix form the desk top and rebooted. Then connected to the form and downloaded another copy of Combofix. Unplugged the internet connection, turned off the Comodo Firewall and stopped my Avast anti virus. Got the attached message (If attachment doesn't work see above message) and had to click OK on 5 of the same windows to get back to the desktop.

    Also tried to read instructions for proper use of the form. Had no success. Should I be posting reply's of just do a new post and it's attached automatically to my last post. Doing replies currently. Would like to correct my mistake if I am making one.
