Any recommendations on cell phones for Verizon? I have been looking into the LG VX6100 and VX8100 (I have heard good things about LG phones from friends). I want a good quality phone which the 6100 seems to deliver but the 8100 is only $20-40 more and has tons of extra features like bluetooth, miniSD, MP3 player. What you think? Thank you for your help.

Google "Verizon recommendation" and you will find the pro Verizon forums.

Tabasco, I have the LG VX7000 and am quite fond of it... I'm not a big cell phone guy (this is only my 3rd phone in 6-7 years)... It has mp3 ringtones, pretty decent camera, 4 alarm clock slots, calendar, etc etc... I bought a data link cable off Ebay and downloaded some free software to access my phone, and now I'm able to store pics from my phone on my PC, as well as make my own ringtones and transfer them to my phone... Also, when you have a data link cable, you can copy some files from your phone and save your entire phone book, should you ever lose the phone (which is clutch). The camera lense also rotates so you can take pics of yourself and see what the image looks like before u snap it.

The current VX7000's come in Black, not blue:

i got mine for $2... my dad had a $100 credit on a new phone purchase on his account and was cancelling it so with some finagling i got the Verizon people to transfer his $100 credit to my name. I started a new plan, got another $100 off because i signed a 2 year contract and all in all it was pretty cheap =]

my only complaint about the phone and i'm sure alot of other color flip phones have this problem, is that it's very hard to see in direct sunlight...

I have the LG 8000, and I love it. I just need to get the data cable for it, to really appreciate it.

I did not wait for that LG8100, due to the camera not being as great as quallity as the 8000. Though, perhaps I need to post the linik for the reason. My Cell retails (use to) $250. Then I had $100 in credit (2 for 1 deal) and a $70 rebate.

I just now went to the verizonwireless website, and noticed they nolonger offer the 8000, but the 8100 is a mere $150.

Another reason I didn't get the 8100, is it is to small. I prefer something that my big fat fingers can easily use, so the 8000 is now mine.

if you go to howardforums.com or mobiledia.com you should have decent research material on just what to buy.

Take a look at phonescoop.com as well. They have a lot of info and reviews on cell phones.

theefool hit me up via PM before you purchase your data cable... the one they sell at the verizon store is like $42... i got one new off Ebay for far less (don't know if the same company manufactured it) and got the program you need to access the phone QPST, for free (because it's free to download)....

Thanx for all the replies. Personally, I am not a fan of Motorola phones due to some reviews from close friends. The VX8000 sounds nice and is definitely an upgrade on the VX7000 but like you said, not offered. The VX8100 has a lot of the same features plus it is smaller (which I like). For the price and all those features Ic an't really rationalize getting an older phone, so I think my mind is set. I was wondering if anyone uses any of the highspeed cell phone connections like EVDO? I see that the VX8100 is capable of connecting to this network?

I've had 4 motorola clam shell phones now. They are awesome. Right now I'm on a Samsung...hate it! Had to replace it once already and not had it a year.

The Vx8100 abd the Moto E815 are EV-DO.

Yeah, I see they are both EVDO capable. Have you used it at all or even the mobile web? On my current phone I don't really get into those things.

Samsung not so good, aye? I've never really played with one.

I've not done either, esp since EVDO isn't in my area yet.

I was in Cali recently though and I can say, GIN apps download mega fast.

I can't stand mobile web, so I wouldn't use it anyway. I rather get the cellular laptop card from them, but since EVDO isn't here, thats not worth it either. Should be soon, I hear they are beta testing it in Phoenix, which is about 2 hours away.

Great, thanx for the help. The Vcast features on the VX8100 are fantastic. The screen is really nice, even though its only a cell phone screen I thought the picture was quite clear. Its nice to see sports highlights and stuff on the phone. I didn't know that you can get text messages on the outisde screen. Score. :)
