Very Annoying!!

    Hi,

I have gone through all the steps on the forum posts and run all
suggested programs. I am still having the same problem. This happens
on all users although seems particularly bad on my administrative user
account, and also happens a lot when I have a browser open.

As I am browsing, the mouse will suddenly start doing it own thing and
starts clicking on everything it can. Mostly it stays in the bottom left region
and my start button keeps getting clicked as it tries to open or close just
    about everything.

Tries to close the browser, tries to open windows media player, tries to click
the 'Set Programs access and Defaults" button from the start button.
It right clicks the desktop to rearrange icons or clicks open the properties
tab. It also moves my taskbar to the side and / or top of the screen instead of the bottom. Also as I am browsing the mouse pointer will just suddenly be on top or bottom instead of where I was just about to click. Don't know if it's doing more bad stuff behind the scenes or if it's just a major annoyance!

I really appreciate this site and thanks in advance for any help you can
    render.

I have added 3 attachments and will send 2nd post to attach the rest.

    Thanks,

    Jay

    Very Annoying!! Part II

    Hi,

These are the other 3 attachments.

Spybot found nothing, Bitdefender found nothing, Ccleaner cleaned a lot
    of junk but nothing major.

I had Zonelabs for firewall and Antivir for antivirus....am now trying AVG
since something still got through with Antivir...am also using Windows
    Defender now as well.

Panda active scan is the only thing that found something....4 instances of
Exploit / iFrame, but could only be fixed if I paid $12.95. Not even sure if that is the cause or not.

    Thanks Again,

    Jay

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You are ignoring step 3 of the READ & RUN ME and you also are running Spybot's Teatimer which was requested that you not use. However the problems you are describing with your mouse are 99% of time related to the mouse itself. Try a different mouse and see if you still have problems. If that works, then try cleaning the insides of the problem mouse to see if it helps.

However you do need to manually delete the infected items Bitdefender pointed out in your email folders.

You should also follow the directions in the READ & RUN ME and install the proper version of Spybot.

Also delete all files in the below folder except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\Documents and Settings\Dragon Lord\Local Settings\Temp\

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response....

OK step 3, I was running antivir which I uninstalled , replaced with
AVG for antivirus, zonealarm for firewall, and spybot / adaware for
spyware(but only spybot for real time protection, adaware is on the
desktop when I want to run it manually)....Windows defender is for malicious
software detection, is that technically an antivirus as well? I'm not sure where I am running afoul of step 3?

I checked the Bitdefender logs and saw where it said "infected with exploit"
However when I follow the path to the the mail folder, it is completely empty
and I already have the folder view set to view hidden files and folders. Not sure how I can delete them if I can't see them. Panda scan also saw those and offered to remove them for $12.95, am I stuck with that?

Ok, I am now downloading updated version of spybot...thanks!

Ok, I have deleted all files/folders in 'local settings\temp' folder as requested!

As for the mouse, its definitely not the mouse !! I could be sitting here not even touching the mouse and it will suddenly come alive as if possessed and start clicking on my start button , trying to open and close programs. I feel like I am watching someone remotely controlling my computer! When I try to move the mouse, it will repeatedly return to my start button and menus start popping up,right and left clicking, closes my browser, moves my task bar etc.
It also happens even when I am in safe mode and just viewing, again not even touching the mouse.

So my questions I guess are:

What am I doing wrong on step 3?
How do I delete those exploit / iframe's?
What would be clicking on my start menu / programs and trying to open/close things against my my or my computers will?

Thanks again for all your help!!

    Jay

In your first log from GetRunKey I saw these:
That's two separate antivirus applications. AntiVir and Avast. Then in your second message you said you were goin to try AVG. That would have been three. That is what I'm referring to. You must never install a second without uninstall a first antivirus. You can mess up Windows Security Center and each antivirus application will also be less effective if this is done and it is a huge waste of system resources.

On a second detailed look, it appears that Bitdefender actually said it was able to update/delete all of them. So you should be okay there.

Yes and in the 99% of other cases all of this was also true.

    Hi Again,

Thanks again for all your help, it's much appreciated!!

I never would have thought that the mouse could cause all that to happen!

Guess I'll go shopping for a new one and I'll let you know if I am still having the same trouble.

Also, I had tried Avast previously, but I uninstalled it because it made my
system run slow. Obviously uninstalling does not remove everything, if
you can still see the traces. I even used Add / Remove programs.

Any suggestions on a good tool for removing all traces of old programs?

Again , thanks ! This site and the service you perform is amazing !!

I recommend that you try borrowing a mouse from a friend just to check to make sure first. Just because basically every case I have seen thus far was a hardware issue does not mean yours is. Trying another mouse before buying another mouse would be a good idea.

Perhaps you had not rebooted after uninstalling. Attach a new log from GetRunKey and let's see what it says now.

    Hi Again...

Well, I found an old mouse from a previous computer, and in the past

few days I have had no issues at all on my user or any others!!

So, I guess it WAS the mouse ! I shouldn't have questioned the master. :)

Here I thought I had this nasty virus or hijacker and it was a pesky mouse.

Well, at least the good news is that in going through the process you outlined

I have totally cleaned my computer of all viruses and spyware. I thought my

computer was already pretty clean, but I did discover a few things and

learned a little more about my computer and how to protect it. Thanks again

for the great service you provide and the fast response time! It's truly

invaluable!! I will tell anyone I can about this site. You are true professionals!

    Thanks,

    Jay
