very lost

my puter crashed and i put xp pro back on it however all the extra stuff didnt work im not computer smart at all i fumbled around and got my sound back but i cant watch dvds or play games and my wifi doesnt work anymore can someone please help me if this isnt a driver problem im sorry for this post ive been to toshiba site and cant get anything and any ati stuff i download doesnt work or hasnt so far i have a toshiba satelite motherboard is ati sb450 and comp number is a105-s2131 i hope thats the identifying marks you need if not plz let me know and ill look for what i need to find out were to go to get what i need any input is greatly appreciated

Since your description of your problems isn't really clear, I'm assuming that you "can't play your games" because the video drivers aren't installed. All the drivers for your system are at the Toshiba web site; I found 'em w/o any problems so I'll post some links here for you:

There you go! Install these drivers in the same order as they are listed here, and always restart the PC when prompted. After you're done installing all this stuff, take a look at your Device Manager and see if there's any yellow question marks ? or exclamation points ! and if you see 'em, post what's listed with them and we'll try to get the correct software to you.... good luck! bless you thank you so much i think that done it im sorry about the confusion on my problem i didnt know exactly what all i needed im not computer literate at all i cant find the device manager thing you was talking about but everything seems to be working that wasnt working again thank you

For future reference, the Device Manager can be found one of several different ways: right click My Computer, select Properties, click the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button; -OR- click Start, then click Run, and then simply type devmgmt.msc in the Run box, and press Enter.

thats awesome thank you the only thing that has a yellow ? is the ethernet controller in the other devices section i tried the reinstall option but it didnt work and thank you again for all your help

 

The Toshiba web site lists a couple different possible drivers for the ethernet (it's the wired hi-speed internet connection that looks like a big phone jack). The only way to get it working would be to know which type of ethernet it is, and to do that you'd run a free program called Unknown Devices. It will tell you who made it (Intel or Realtek), and then you can post that info here and I'll link the driver, or you can use the info to find the driver yourself....
