Hi, I'm not even sure I'm in the right "forum"....however, my boyfriend and I are both running Win XP (Pro and Home, respectively). He's bugging me to "Clean Up All But The Most Recent Restore Points."

I'm self employed and have "work" saved in both Word and Wordperect on my HD....(I KNOW....I should save it to a floppy or whatever!!!). If I don't, though, will doing the above delete all the documents that I've saved?

    Thanks :)

no it wont delete your word documents, the restore points are for if ur system csashes u can go back to one of your restore points, at the point before your crash. u can dedicate more or less space for restore points depending on how safe you want ot be, so no it wont erase your documents that u have saved

HI, If these docs. are vital to you then you should have more backup than just the one HD.

There are free backup programs around that could help you to do the backups. Peace Mal

its probably even better to back up on a CD or other removable media that is kept in a safe place, because HDs are volotile (i think thats the right word) and CDs are not.

    Very New.....Thanks!

Okay, so I threw caution to the wind, took a breath and trusted you guys.....and voila! Nothing bad happened ;)

Now, of course, you realize you may have to walk me through that, uh, whatwasit.....saving my docs to a CD....Can you do that with Windows Media Player?!

Hey, that WordWeb thing.....now that's cool! It's not volatile or anything is it ;p

    Thanks again, folks.

    I'll be back :)

Nope you cannot use Media Player to save docs to a CD.

Saving "docs" to a CD can be done in XP fairly easily as XP has CD writing software built in albeit basic but it does work.....

First off do you have a CD Writer drive installed?

If so then all you need is a blank CD, pop it in the Writer then highlight all the files in "My Docs" or any other "Docs" you wish to backup then right mouse click on one of the high-lighted files and pick on the menu SEND TO > then pick th Drive letter that is your CD writer

once you have all the files sent to that folder that you wish to backup......then double click MY Computer then double click the CD drive that is your writer and on the left hand side there is a menu and at the top it will say "Write these files to CD" click that and follow any instructions given.
