    Good afternoon Majorgeeks!

Its many years since I've needed your fabulous support. Last time there was series of 5-6 software progs to download and run then I uploaded the results to you and you told me what to delete/edit/change etc. It was slow but reliable, ad I was very grateful.

Today Ive got an HP laptop which takes forever to load/get started, and once its going its still very slow. (endless blue circles of death). On top of that my outlook is seriously impaired.

I would love your help again please but having had a quick look at your website I don't recognise the formats so not sure where to start. Sadly I'm still in the position that I'm scared of doing something wrong and making it worse, and need your very simple clear instructions please on where to look, what to check etc. The only thing I have managed to do is delete junk from the desktop- there are only shortcuts and a cache there now. But still the laptop takes ages to jumpstart.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

What model is the HP? (I like to look at the hardware and age of the computer in question)
What version of Windows are you running?
What size is the hard drive and how much space is used?

Lots of things can impair a computer: some part going bad, not enough RAM, the wrong driver for the version of Windows, and a hard drive that is close to full.

We can't assist until we have information about your HP laptop.

    Thanks for your reply.
Its an HP 15 Notebook pc
Processor AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz
    RAM: 8Gb (6.95 usable)
64-bit operating system, x64 based processor
    Windows 10 Home installed 2020
    4 cores
C drive is 909 gb capacity, of which 139 gb is used, 770 gb free space
I don't know how to find out about the drivers.
I think the lap top is around 4 years old. I use it for leisure purposes - emails, internet browsing/shopping, and some social media and games.

main problem is that it is very slow to start up, and a secondary issue is that my Outlook is very badly set up and probably needs a rebuild/intall.

    ANy advice please?

    TIA

    Hello...
I have to ask if the drive is mechanical?
SSD drives are very cheap these days and an opportunity for a clean installation ?

    Good luck with your decisions.

Open task manager and look at the status of the start up and disable those you don't need.

Was there another OS on it before?
Are all the drivers installed? Look at device manager and see if you have any yellow !'s or red X's.

You have enough hard drive space and you have enough RAM.

I can't help with Outlook because I don't download emails to any computer.

Here are some HP 15 models from 2014

What are the characters after the 15? Turn the laptop over and look at the HP label on the bottom.
