vga cable

i own an acer aspire 5536 and a hitachi 42 inch hdtv. now i've bought a vga cable with audio jacks each end. now i can get perfect picture but no sound? i've tried putting the jacks into the headphone sockets but no joy? also in sound the headphone don't show up? pleae help no hair left!!!!

 

I'm assuming you get sound from the speakers? Does the audio coming from the speakers cut off when you plug into the headphone port?

Which audio jack is on the hdtv side? Is it the red/white left/right rca input?

 

only got 1 headphone socket no r-w sockets. just ordered a 3.5 audio cable with hp jack one end and r-w cables other. now i belive it will only work with my surrond system? also tried to fix drivers with driver checker but all it did was to kill my hd audio driver manager? tried the audio cable on my vga cable but no headphone icon showed up?

 

I don't think you have 3.5mm input on the tv? at least I don't. And I dont think it will use the rca audio inputs if you select vga for the tv. So, yes, one way would be to connect to your audio system. That's how I do it with my laptop. I just always leave the cables connected (vga on the tv, rca audio on the surround system) and just connect them to the laptop when I use it.

 

many tks the cable has been sent out so i'll try it in tv 1st if no joy then i'll try surrond system.
