vhs to dvd

I have some old vhs tapes that I want to put on my computer then convert the files to dvd and burn them to disc. How can I do this and what do I need?

as for your other question though, mind you i'm no expert but this is what i came up with:

alot of it seems to deal with camcorders, but the same principals may apply. i'm sure someone will chime in shortly with a real answer, but the above is what i came up with. if you want more info, i just typed: VHS to DVD computer in google and those are a few that popped up.
