vid card reading 258 degc

for no reason at all my vid card is reading 258 degc. i felt the card its warm but not even close to hot. i ran spyware checks and virus checks all were good. i uninstalled the drivers forceware 84.21 and reinstalled them but it still says its 258 degc. any ideas?

ok well that was weird all the times i rebooted my pc during uninstaling the vid card drivers and re booting after they were installed it read 258 degc. i turned my pc completly off and back on and now its reading 55c. dont know what that means.

 

no real need to worry, because theres no way that it would be runnin at 258 degrees c , it would have fryed if it was running at that.. i reckon its just a faulty sensor on the card , if its still under warranty , i would go and get it replaced

 

yea guess it could be a sensor going bad. i dont think they make 6800gts anymore but i may be wrong. if they dont make them now and this problem happens again i suppose ill go for a 7800 gs. the vid card does have a lifetime warranty on it im not sure how that would work out if they dont make the gts anymore.

 

well if they do not make them anymore, you have a right to ask for a newer, better card because of the lifetime warranty
