hello everybody, i am a noob when it comes to knowing about hardware compatibility. I have an EVGA Geforce 260 Core 216 Superclocked edition video card and i want to know if it is compatible with an ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3

here is the link to the board - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131668

I wasn't sure if Nvidea chip set cards were compatible with it because it says it supports Crossfire and it has onboard ATI graphics

The GTX260 is perfectly compatible with that board and will give good performance.

in the specs what they are referring to is that you can crossfire the onboard graphics with a graphics card in the pci extress 16 2.0 slot....only certain low end cards though, 3450 and 3470. nvidia cards will work just fine on amd chipsets and vise-verse.
