Video Card for Everything

    Right now, I have an All-in-Wonder 128, (bought in '98?), but the resolution on recorded video is very poor, (using either MPEG2 or AVI), even when watching on a medium sized computer monitor, (17"). I have to use a small screen rendering to get a sharp picture.

    I've noticed that DVDs recorded from videotape input are also a little fuzzy. I need a new card, I think.

    I'd like to be able to:
    1) surf in Pic-in-Pic on my HDTV 50" screen while watching TV;
    2) capture TV to MPEG for DVD recording;
    3) feed either video or regular documents to my high-definition TV;
    and
    4) get good resolution from the card, adequate for normal TV viewing on my 50" widescreen TV.

    (I may at some time in the future want to play some games with grandkids, too.)

    I've seen some posts on cards, but without looking at scores of pages, I don't think this objective has been stated yet. I hope I'm not repeating anything.

    What would you recommend?

    I'm not all that much into the stuff you want to use the card for, but from what I've read thus far a good choice would be to get an Ati Radeon All-In-Wonder.
    Depending on how much you're willing to spend you can get anything from a 9500AIW up to an X800 AIW if I recall correctly.
    The X800AIW being the most expensive one.

    I was kind of leaning in that direction. I've had my eye on the 9800, which has a remote control, and lots of other goodies. But I was not sure if the resolution would be what I'm looking for. That's because of my ignorance about the cards. I'm reasonably sure the reason my pictures are fuzzy is that the 128 I have is not nearly as advanced as the newest cards. What do you think?

    That'd be the first thing that'd come to my mind as well, but I've to admit that I do not own nor have owned any sort of AIW card.
    It'd seem not more than logical that the newer cards can capture the images better because of the simple fact the architecture is newer and way more powerfull.

    Most expensive do it all card is actually the X1800 AIW
