video card help

i am new to this so of this seems like a stupid question i apologize
i have a gigabyte ga-7vaxp vers 1.1 m/b i just learned i need to purchase a new agp card can you name some for me and exactly what am i looking for it is a new project, that i started over a year ago and now i have to finish it before it becomes an antique

try www.tigerdirect.com and look at agp cards there. unfortunately i'm from UK but all other members seem to recommend it, but www.newegg.com is supposed to be good too!

 

i use newegg.com...its a good website...cheap too..i can find almost anything in computer needs...

well, your board has a VIA KT400 chipset, which was a great chipset in its own respect, despite its RAM limitation.

specs are HERE for all interested.

you do have agp8x support, so you can get just about any video card on the market.

how much money do you have to spend?

if you are on a budget, i'd recommend a GeForce FX 5900XT, or an ATi Radeon 9800pro, both of which are around $180

upwards of that, you should go for a GeForce 6800GT for around $350-$400

or if you just want a card to make your system work and handle most games up to date, you can get a GeForceFX 5700 for around $100 or an ATi Radeon 9600 for about the same.

as mentioned above, newegg has great prices, and soe does zipzoomfly. I would be skeptical to recommend TigerDirect, as they are a huge ripoff with shipping and have been known to be Hit or Miss with customer service.

 

id say the same about newegg ... the first order i give them and they totally screw it up ... anyway ive never had a problem with tigerdirect .. just my 2 cents
