i just bought a system two weeks ago from ebay an old pIII 650 MHZ

    anywho specs first then myquestion

i440BX intel chipset with creative soundblaster pro 5.1 on the mobo built right in
    NVIDIA Geforce 2MX 32MB agp 4X
    4X 128 MB PC100 ram 512 total
    160GB Harddrive
    150 watt powersupply
    DLink Lan
    Creative Dvd 12x
    and a dead cdrw

okay my issue is this i bought the computer and since ive had it ive discovered more and more problems one example is my cdrw drive began to smoke up and melt a disc

all right my newest problem though is with the video the issue is simple when i start up no picture(a majority of the time.) it usually comes on with one short beep i lost my guide to the number of the beeps

there are alot of times where i can also get it show the video but after about a hour and a half it freezes and i shut it off wait a day and reboot and its fine

so do i need a new video card
or is my power supply to meager to handle all thats in there

    thanks in advance

looks like you need a new psu - don't go any lower than a 400W with that spec n get at least 128mb graphics card.
i suggest some cooling fans too to calm down the cd writer!!!

PSU calculator http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ I came up with 183 watts at peak demand (everything running+I assumed one 80mm case fan and a DVD burner to replace the cooked CDRW.)and with the CDRW dead, that much less demand. I don't think you're running enough over your peak power to make a major difference. Make sure the graphics card is seated, sometimes they come loose. Switch monitors, then cards (if possible) should that not make a difference, before you buy something

i forgot to mention i tried it on a 17 inch dell and a 15 inch monitor both came up with the same results and im not using a dvd burner ive tried plugging and unplugging the agp card hmm i guess i might need a new power supply then ill unpug everything thats unnecesary

    thanks
