Hey, how is it going people? and Happy Holidays. =)

Honestly, I do not like to request help as my first post, but for about a month or so with no help doing this myself with the use of the internet and other resources, I come to conclusion: I just can't do this myself. Of course, if I'm not on a budget, I'd get a brand new video card to install. Yes, this is a video card problem. I'll try to make it simple to understand. :)

I have done an "upgrade OS over the original OS". It was previously Windows XP, and now it's still the same, I just basically install over the orginal. Without notice, I've heard from people that this can cause some problems, and yeah, it has.

Everything is fine, except for my video card. I haven't changed it ever since I bought it, so I believe it's nVidia TNT 2 8 MB Graphics. The video card does not show up on any hardware infos, including the Device Manager.

I also have somthing from EVEREST.

It's like the video card isn't even installed. I have no CDs or anything, because it's just the card that came with the PC I bought. I have located the card itself inside the PC case. I just gave a little try, and took it out, and put it back in to see if it works, and there's nothing. I've tried downloading drivers and other stuff from the nVidia web page, but it doesnt' work, because it couldn't locate the driver.

    Things I know:
-Video card doesn't show up after over upgrade previous OS
-Problem has cause the inability to play videos, games, and shutdown/restart/hibernate correctly
-Other noticable options in Windows not working
-Doesn't seem to be an option in BIOS
-Video card is nVida TNT 2 (if there's another name, I don't know. This was written on the side of the case)

If I could get a little help before I go buying a nwe video card (which will be my last option) I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

On the second image i see that you have install only the microsoft generic driver...So it mean you have no video driver install to fix this if your chipset
is nvidia download the latest nividia driver here and install problem fix...

okay this mean that your video cards it's not a nvidia chipset.

So it must be an ATI chipset but i want to be shure so install this program
    belarc advisor download here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1385

Go to display and tell me what it say...

Anything I have to do after that?
If not, then nothing happend that I noticed, but you did mention installing my video drivers. How do I go about doing that without a CD?

    Thanks. =)

Wow, it works! You don't know how happy I am, honestly! Man, can't express how happy I feel. I mean, it's been months! Thanks so much Adrynalyne and Clark! I owe you guys, someway, haha.

PS: There's just a slight problem. The drivers for nVidia, it says the same thing as this.

Again, it's nothing much, but it's just not quite to the original state as before, but it does work. If I could possibly fix this, then I'll give it a go.

    Once again, thanks a lot!

Look at the driver archives. Nvidia doesn't mention it, but the driver inf stopped listing TNT2 at some point.

Might want to start with the oldest and make your way up. I'll download a few and check the inf myself to make sure, if you are patient.

Ok, I know the 30.82s work, but I'm looking to see if I can find the latest driver that still acknowledges NV5 (Core for TNT2) in it.

Ok, from what I can tell, almost everything up through the 60.xx series includes TNT2 inf information, in the form of a second inf. I know the 50.xx series should work fine. Anything past the 60.xx series stopped including TNT/TNT2 information in the driver inf, making the last driver to be 66.93. If that ones doesn't work, try the 56.72 driver.

Take a look at what the driver infs detect.

This is the latest one, vs. the 56.72.

Now I am no expert, but if the driver inf contains no information about your card, then AFAIK those drivers cannot be installed.

Note the 66.93 drivers have the TNT/TNT2 information contained ina second inf, called nv4disp2.inf, which seems to have been removed from later driver releases.

Ok, thanks a lot man. I'll try to find one that will be compatible with it. It's working quite well at the moment. Thanks you for all your help.
