video card problem

ok so i got a geforce fx 5500 i put it in and id ont have the cd for it so i downloaded the nividia xp/2000 driver set for it installed them put the video card started up my pc everything went fine so i went to device manager and 1 out of 2 vga controllers had an explanation mark on it so i clicked the first one installed the drivers then on my display thing i seen my video card their so i went and unistalled the second vga one down and now my monitor works and shows good untill u get to my login screen and all that from their its just all blank i entered my password and clicked enter so i heard windows start up so i kno my pc was fine my video card just wasnt working so i unplugged it plugged in my monitor to my on board and everything is fine anyone kno what i should do

Remove the drivers you just installed, go into bios, disable on board video (this may or may not be here). Insert your "new" video card into your computer, install the drivers for this video card....


You said you had an explanation mark next to a video adapter. Next time try removing that device. Or actually, both devices and reboot.

I hope this helps, cause reading a paragraph with no periods is very difficult. Even if you said you had to type fast, hitting the period with your right ring finger isn't all that difficult. That is only if you are a typist.

 

u should use Driver Cleaner to remove the old drivers
