Hello, I am new to the boards here but this looks like the place to get a little tech help. I just recently stated having a problem with my graphix card (NVIDIA 6600GT). When playing any games I get a wierd blocky image like this

I am afraid to ask what might be wrong with my vid card. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you you checked for driver updates?
Gone to the games site and checked for patches/updates?
Are these recent installs and thus recent problems?

Have you checked out your configuration settings:

Right click on desk top and select the Settings tab.

Start from here and post further results

First are you overclocking the card ?? Secound did it just start doing this ? Or did it happen after you changed something ( new PSU, new ram etc. ) ? That is most likly the GPU not the video card ram doing that. If it just happend w/o any change in hardware what so ever it must (using deductive logic) be due to overheating, overclocking, or dead or dying GPU.

Thank you very much for the quick responses...To answer your questions:

    - I have had the card since I built my computer over a year now. Never once have I had a problem with it.

    - No software was installed prior to this happening.

    - The only thing I can say was that while playing the other night the screen went totally blank and my monitor began searching for a signal like it does when the computer is off. However, the computer itself was still on. So, I predded the reset button and it started up again normally. Since then the graphics have been like that for games.

    - I even tested in my dxdiag and get the little black boxes when doing the Direct3D tests.

    Thanks again!

Sounds realy bad for your card. So thare were no hardware changes around the time it happend ? How hot it it running ? It in every game and not just one ?

Temps don't extend out of the typical range that they usually do for any games. And nope...no hardware changes...I am getting depressed! :(

Donno what else to say "shes dead jim". Maybe try dropping the core speed some. Your not overclocking at all ? My 5600 had "sudden" artifacts like that, a reboot normaly fixed it It was due to to high of a core overclock.

Yeh looks bad for your card,if you have system restore enabled, try restoring to when you know your card was working,if it dont help undo the restore :)
