video card question

I like to play games on my pc. However, I sometimes get a black screen when I start a game and the game sounds are there, but no pictures. (I like the hidden object games) Does my video card need to be updated. How do I find out what kind of video card I have, and if I find out how to update it, will I be able to play some of these games? I ran the Everest program and posted my log for musksnipe before, but I don't know how to find it on here.

Not sure what games you are trying to play, but this is definitely an old computer/video card.

you may want to try these drivers from ati:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/legacy-xp.html
select the 2nd option, Rage Pro

 

Thank you thesmokinggun, I tried to install it and it said that it was not compatible with the windows logo, so I stopped there and didn't try it. Don't want to screw up a computer that's already screwed up lol I know this is an old computer. Hopefully we'll get a new one when we get our tax check.

The games I like to play are the ones like off of bigfishgames.com the hidden object kind, and games like plant tycoon, etc.
