video card resource problem code 12

I installed a new pci video card but when I restart my computer I get a message that there is no driver even though the driver is installed. In device manager under device status for the video card the message is the device cannot find enough free resources, code 12. When I go to resources by type under the view menu I do not see any devices with the same settings as the video card and also the video card is not listed under the IRQ category. I don't know how to correct the problem.

 

Some more info needed, what's your OS, motherboard and video card model, amount of RAM. Really, a PCI video card?

 

I am running windows xp pro, motherboard is ASRock K7 upgrade, processor is AMD Athlon xp2600+, 512 MB RAM, video card is Diamond Stealth Radeon 9250.
And why am I using a pci video card? It's an old computer and not used for much more than email and documents and this is just temporary until this machine gets replaced. Do you need more info?

 

Thank you, that's enough info. I was thinking that your video card would be taking up some of your RAM to run and at 512MB you don't have much to spare. This isn't the case here. I'll rummage around the web and see what I can find. I hope someone else actually knows.

 

Do you have another PCI slot you could try as I see the K7's have 2 of them? Other than that, I have no idea. Digerati, where are you?

 

Yes, I will try another pci slot. I should have thought of trying that already. I'll let you know what happens.

 

Okay so I've tried another pci slot and the problem remains. I'll try and find a solution when I have some time but if anybody has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
