Video Conversion Problems

I have been having a problem converting a certain video of mine to a format that can play in my DVD player. (The one that I have hooked up to my home theater system on my TV-An APEX Brand from Wal-Mart.) I had used FX Video Joiner in the past, running some videos singly through it and converting them into MPEG format, and they worked just fine. However, for some reason, this one video I have tried recently will not, for whatever reason, play from any disc (CD-R) I have burned it to, even though I have used the same method of converting that I used on the others.
I have been at a loss on this, and I would love some suggestions on how to get this to work again. I have been all around the Internet, downloading programs that promise to work like I want, and they've all either left huge watermarks across the video, making it unwatchable, or didn't convert the video to where it works, either. I have received several suggestions from people on how to convert it, from manually finalizing the discs to how to tweak the format settings on the converters I've tried, and so far, absolutely nothing has worked. Any help to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.

 

There are several free conversion tools available that don't leave those bogus watermarks in your videos. Major Geeks has some free conversion utilities in the multimedia section; SUPER and MediaCoder are two that come to mind and they're free. DVD Flick (also in the multimedia section) will convert many different formats to standard DVD format for a home DVD player, and it will burn the converted file to a DVD and the whole process takes under 2 hours (on a reasonably powerful PC).
