video Editing - using more than one software

Periodically I use my VideoWave to edit digital videos I've taken, but I've never completed a project. I'm thinking of buying Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus - it gets good reviews. Question. Can I continue to edit the video that I started in VideoWave in Pinnacle? Or, does each produce proprietary products. Example: I've got many VideoWave edited clips, but I want to add more clips before producing a final, edited video. Can I combine VideoWave clips with Pinnacle clips to produce a storyline (video)? I hope this is where to post. Thank you for your help. dan

 

This would be a question for Pinnacle, or unless someone here has experienced using both those programs.

What I have found, is that the way different programs handle edited video is proprietary, and your clips will probably not be able to be viewed in Pinnacle's software. I had similar issues with Adobe Premier, and some ULead software program and especially had a problem with video I made on a Macintosh and tried to use on a PC.

I would say they won't be compatible.

 

Thank you for the reply. I tried to join Pinnacle's forums, but I don't own any of their products (yet) so they would not let me join - thus I could not ask the question. Odd? Anyhow, I have a "feeling" you are correct because I Know Windows Movie Maker products cannot be used in VideoWave. I just hate to lose all of the work I've done in VideoWave if I switch. VideoWave is cumbersome, so I get discouraged; I'm hoping Pinnacle will be the cure. Thanks again. dan

 

Porting to one to another is usually a pain in the a$$. You may be able to export to uncompressed AVI from one into the other...
