Okay my video files will not play in winamp, WMP, or Divx Player.

I have the updated drivers from nvidia. My GFX card is a Gefroce 6200 OC 256mb.

I have the aug. version of Directx9.0C installed, as well as the divx codec.

    any other suggestions?

What is the extension of the files you are trying to play?

Those are widely accepted files as you probably know, so this leads me to think the files are corrupt.

Are they home movies or something you downloaded?

I've had this problem too. It turned out that I had hacked versions of video codecs installed and that would make my video players crash and report that there was something wrong with the video files. I downloaded what I thought was a legit codec pack but I was wrong. Once I uninstalled the codec pack and installed the REAL codecs my videos were fine.

I don't know if this is what is happening to you but I thought I would share what happend to me.

    Trying out that download now.

I know they are widley used video files, and they are things i downloaded, but i have played them before, i reformatted my windows drive and they are on my slave drive. Im not sure what i did to get them to work before, but i have the new chipset for my MoBO and what not soo im kind of confused....it also wont work with random video files online like ones from say...albinoblacksheep, click on the open with and i use winamp divx and WMP but nada. will post if that one thing works though.

Thanks for the help thus far though!

Mpg is, avi not. Avi files can contain any type of video and audio data and do require codecs to be installed.

What exactly happens when you try to play the files in winamp, WMP, or Divx Player? Does it freeze, crash with an error, nothing or something else? Post any error messages.
