"Video mode intitialization error..."

    After the invaluable advice I received on this forum, I have just bought and successfully installed a new NVIDIA GeForce Fx 5500 video card. Hurrah! :celebrate

    My problem is though I can now play the games that I couldn't before, there are a couple of games - namely, Fortune Tiles Gold and County Fair - that will not load. I get the following error message:

    'Video mode initialization error. Please contact your video card vendor to obtain latest video drivers.'

    I did try updating the drivers, but according to that little wizard inside my PC, there is no better match than the software I already have.

    Ha!

    Seems that PC wizard didn't know what he was talking about. Went direct to the Nvidia site, found that I could update my drivers and hey presto! problem solved.

    The moral of this story: Never trust a man in a pointy hat.;)

    Thanks for coming back and posting what worked. Others who trust the wizard will now know that it pays to do some searching on your own to perhaps get a better driver.
