Why would it be that I can watch some streaming video on my laptop but not others? For instance I was able to watch the snooker UK final for several hours on BBC i-Player without issues but usually unable to watch even short videos on BBC News.

OK it's no speed merchant - Processor AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1700 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) with 8GB memory running Win 10 x64 but why would it be fine with some videos but not with others? All drivers are up to date. My knowledge of video is zilch.

Does the news site use the same player? (I'm not in the UK so I can't test a thing.)
Have you tried a different browser? (I can't play most things through Palemoon because Moonchild refuses to install codecs so I fire up FF or Vivaldi for viewing). Actually I find my 10" android tablet a lot more problem free so I use that to watch a lot of videos.

My search turns up flash settings but since flash is ending at the end of 2020, most of what I see is old and not at all helpful. Once I understand if the news site uses the BBC-i player too, I'll be able to do a better search.

It does seem to be a browser issue. I can watch videos on the BBC News site when using Edge but mostly they won't play on Firefox other than with huge lag. Still doesn't explain why Firefox is ok with iPlayer content but not News content but at least I now have a way viewing them. Thanks plodr.

Don't thank me, you solved it yourself. :p

If I have trouble with a site, I generally try another browser or even another device. My android tablets seem to have no problem streaming while the Windows computers might.
