My friend has an (presumably) old ATI All In Wonder VE PCI video card. I have a relatively new GeForce 6600 GT. Comparing DVD playback, his computer produces a lot more natural looking of a picture. It dosn't have the compressed video file appearance. Mine does. What could be the problem? Is it in codecs? Some video settings? Is the All-In-Wonder series just built for spectacular video playback?

ATI cards have always been better at rendering crisp images when it comes 2 DVD/PICs. Compare any similar ATI/NVIDIA cards and almost always ATI will come on top when it comes to non-gaming situations, thats just the way it is. Sorry i cant get any more in depth then that. My knowledge of how that stuff works is remedial at best.
