video splitters

    is there a free or shareware video file splitter that is easy to use and is good for different formats?? I downloaded a movie and it is 900 megs i want to cut it at 42 minutes i downloaded ulead video 7 (???) and couldnt figure out how to use it

    i used the program split off half of the file and now the new half won't play because of missing dll in one player and invalid format in another, any ideas?????????????
