Video With No sound

Hi, i seem to be having a problem watching dvd's on my computer... I can get the video but i get no sound. Now the strange thing is if i watch video files ripped or downloaded onto the computer i get the audio but if it is straight from the disk no audio. Please advise... I'm frustrated...

 

What do you use to playback the DVDs? Is it the same program that you use to playback rips and downloads? Is this on an older PC or older DVD drive? (Older being more than maybe 3 years old)

 

i use windows media player to play all of them but the other programs i have quicktime, nero do the same thing except with nero its audio and no video but i'm not conserned about that one as i alike window media player anyway

 

I may be a codec issue. Try downloading and installing the KLite Mega Pack. It has just about any codec you could possibly need and has Media Player Classic built-in. Alternatively, you can try VLC Media Player which will play most files without the need for codec as it has it's own decoders built-in. Here's some links:
