Just found out that you could flash the videocard, only knew you could flash the actual motherboard BIOS. Anyways I've got a Gainward Geforce 8800GTS which I'd be interested in flashing, just want to know some info about flashing a videocard first. So my videocard right now is pretty hot (in temperature) so I would like to know if BIOS flashing would increase the temperature by more? and does anyone know any cooling system/fan for my video card?

Like your computer, BIOS flashing is only worth it if it addresses an issue you have. Have you found the bios update and read what it addresses? I have never updated my vide card bios, never once saw a reason to.

Heat issues can also be related to dust in the case, poor airflow, slow fans, underpowered power supply or poorly spaced out components not allowing for airflow. You might check into these as well.

Well someone wrote an simple article about bios flashing and mentioned that it could speed up the card and unlock "hidden" features and so on. Well, does anyone know if bios flashing can make the video card hotter? and where you can get official BIOS for flashing?

Edit: NVIDIA Monitor states that my GPU is 76C, heard that the "normal" temperature for graphic cards is around 80C so the temp isn't too high is it?

Some info on flashing video cards. A few years ago, I had a Radeon 9800GT that actually had the GPU of the 9800XT. I flashed it to the 9800XT BIOS and the card was seen as a 9800XT. Before flashing, the card did not have temperature sensors that would work. After flashing, the sensors were seen and could be monitored. It raised the 'stock' speed of the GPU and the RAM. So sometimes you can unlock some features.

I am sure it also raised the temperature, but without having working sensors before I flashed it, I do not know how much. Usually, if you flash to a BIOS different from the original, you are overclocking the card, so the temp will go up.

I am not sure about your card and whether you would get any benefit or not. I upgraded the cooling on mine before I overclocked it. I would make sure you get your temps down before you try anything. Remember, if you get a bad flash, you might wind up with a very expensive paper weight... I would do a lot of research and make sure you have a card that might benefit before flashing it. And keep the risks in mind.
