Virtual Clone Drive Freeware Installation Failure On My Windows 8

I am having difficulties doing a successful installation of the Virtual Clone Drive Freeware hosted from this website: https://www.elby.ch/en/products/vcd.html

I have attempted 4 downloads and installations across various sites that host the same software and all my attempts have led to the same error message. This leads me to believe the issue is not because of the source, but rather with how the software handles installation on this particular setup.

I am able to download the software and get the .exe to boot. After agreeing to having it modify program files, I am greeted to a license agreement window.

From here, I click the "Associate .udf files" checkbox because I want this software to work with a .udf file. Then I hit next and finally the Install button.

After doing that, the resulting green loading bar speeds to the end at the right ONLY TO BE INTERRUPTED by another dialogue window telling me that the installation has failed. Below is what this looks like:


Hitting OK will tell me that the setup is complete and that my system needs to be rebooted.

After performing a reboot, the software SEEMS To be ok! I mean...look! I can open the software and everything!


But unfortunately, when trying to open the .udf file in question with Virtual Clone Drive I am told the following:


Any insight as to why the installation always fails and how I can fix that from happening?
